I’m a self-taught copywriter and video creator with 5 years in business.
In that time, I’ve scripted and made videos brands used to:
- Pitch a major NGO organization for funding (and it worked!)
- Train 12,000+ employees at one business
- Sign up clients at trade shows and raise brand awareness

I never thought I’d end up in video marketing. Not even in my wildest dreams.
When I was in university, the thought of marketing and business was as appealing as gnawing my hand off. I set my sights on teaching abroad in cool places with comfortable pay and lofty holiday time (life goals of any college grad).
My first stop was in Turkey to be an English teaching assistant on a Fulbright grant. And after a year there, I made my way to China. (Fun fact #2)
Life was great until I realized I didn’t want to teach forever.
I shared this with my entrepreneur friend and he told me to always have a plan B. (That’s a hashtag truth moment, but I vowed to only use hashtags ironically)
That same friend introduced me to the explainer video and how he used them with his own business-China Importal.
Have you seen those template animated explainer videos like Vyond or Powtoon? Those were my “in” to video production (we all start somewhere, right?).
I made those on Upwork.
And I offered the full package: script + video + voice over
For about $150.
Insane, I know.
But thanks to that, I realized I loved writing video scripts.

I admit though, I learned one script format and stuck with that for my first 2 years. It was a good format. And doing my own voice overs (quickly) trained me to write like I talk.
But the message was mediocre. It ticked the right boxes, but it didn’t inspire that “I NEED THIS NOW” feeling in anyone.
I knew I could do better, so 3 years ago, I set out on my mission to master the perfect persuasive message. But I struggled to find the resources and guidance I needed to do better.
